About Kym

My name is Kym Franklin - master vocal coach & piano instructor of Know Your Voice. For as long as I can remember, I have been extremely passionate about music ministry and performance. At the tender age of six, I began songwriting, composing, singing and playing the piano everyday - after school and weekends. Seeing my passion and seriousness, my parents found an antique baby grand piano for 100 bucks in the local newspaper and signed me up for private, piano lessons immediately!

At age 7, I performed my first solo piece (voice and piano) for my church congregation of 3000 souls! And I have been blessed to perform and minister the Good News of Jesus Christ consistently ever since - staying busy on stage, in the studio and on regular national and international tours!

As for my teaching origins, I opened my first teaching studio in my parents living room (at the age of 16) utilizing that same antique baby grand piano! Parents with young children from church and in my neighborhood began hiring me to teach their kids traditional piano lessons and music theory! 33 years later and I've earned two degrees, a world of experience and extensive knowledge in the fields of music performance, education, composition and most important - ministry! And the Most High is just getting started with me! All glory to Jesus the Christ!!

Souls from all walks of life!

Parents and adult students - do your research. Study the potential instructor's background, credentials, education, experience and test their character and spirit. Check to see if they are active performers. These are indeed the best instructors. Trust your gut. Make sure to invest wisely - you get what you pay for.

My piano student (Ethan) sending me a picture of his medal for winning 1st Place Piano Solo - in a district wide piano competition! He signed himself up, selected his music, he worked diligently to accomplish his goal!!! I am SO proud of him and ALL of my students! Check out Ethan’s showcase here!
