About Rachel

Students note that lessons are customized to meet their individual needs and goals. I am also very flexible with scheduling.

My masters degree is in Voice Pedagogy (teaching). As part of the program, I had to successfully complete courses in voice science, methods of teaching and a teaching practicum. The degree is much more comprehensive than a typical masters in voice. My qualifications truly stand out!

I am extremely passionate about teaching voice. I enjoy working individually with students and helping them progress. It is very rewarding. I also enjoy being able to foster a love of the arts in my students! I have taught for over fifteen years and have worked with hundreds of students. Teaching came to be on a whim from a family friend. I worked with her daughter one summer and went back to college knowing that voice teaching was a tremendous passion.

I hold a Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy and Performance with an emphasis in Pedagogy. This means I am highly trained in the many skill sets needed to be a good voice teacher. I am also equally trained, through my degree programs and my professional opera, light opera and other credits, in good performance technique.

About the lesson

I assess the student's individual goals and create a strategy/ lesson plan from there!

All kinds! Little kids, teens, adults, senior citizens... you name it! I never turn a student away. If a student is willing to learn, then I am willing to teach him or her.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask their teacher what kind of mentorship they like. Do they respond well to positive feedback, negative feedback? Does the student have any chronic illnesses or learning disabilities that the teacher should be aware of? Will the student need to cancel periodically for rehearsals, appointments, etc.? Everything factors in to a good teacher/student relationship. I keep all of this between the student, student's family, and myself, so there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed of any disability or hindrance the student may have.

Yes- all students are charged the same price, which is based on length of lesson. I have specific rates for 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 minute sessions. They factor in my skill sets, expertise, and dedication to my craft.
