About Jessica

Having been a honors English student in High school and receiving an English honor cord when graduating high school, it is my goal that while attending Arkansas Tech to be a History and English teacher in Arkansas high schools to gain experience by assisting students in achieving the best grades possible while ensuring the understanding necessary to remember what has been learned. I have been tutoring students for three years in history, english, composition, phonics, reading, cursive, handwriting, and music theory, as well as biblical studies, and German.

I love the look on students faces when the come back with a grade they hadn't expected to receive because I believed in them and was willing to explain anything I needed to how ever many times it took.

I have always been teaching. I would teach my stuffed animals when I would get home from school and never stopped.

I am currently a sophomore for a Secondary History Education major and a English Composition minor. I am also a self published author and a bidding poet.

About the lesson

Upon meeting a new student I often ask to see homework that has been graded in the past month to get an idea of where the class is and where the student is within that class. Through conversation and observation I attempt to find what the student is interested in for the purpose of being able to use examples that would make sense to the student. Often just helping with that week's homework will help me to get to know and be able to help the student.

I have worked with bilingual students, deaf students, autistic students, as well as dyslexic students.

The only advice I could give would be to find one that you are comfortable with that also knows their trade. Too often people become tutors without really knowing the subject but rather just wanting the money.
