I’m an experienced and knowledgeable teacher of singing lessons with a degree in voice education and state certification to teach music. I've been offering my instructive services since 2016 to clients in the greater Milwaukee area. My lessons focus on controlling the voice. For beginning students I teach the basics of posture and breathing that will lead to a healthy control of not only the voice, but the whole body. As we continue I move onto learning different individual skills based upon what the students needs most. Some of the most common goals of my students that I address are learning to sing with more volume without needing a substantial amount of effort, extending the range, and eliminating habits that can cause permanent damage later in life. For my more advanced students or those looking to sing a variety of styles I teach how to alter the voice subtly such that a student could sing drastically different songs with quality.

Singing has always been my passion. Anyone who is passionate about something also loves talking about that something. Fortunately, I was able to make talking about singing my job, and I love it.

I've wanted to sing my whole life, and along with the love of something comes the love of telling other people about that something. I slowly learned to love explaining singing concepts, the anatomy behind singing, and the science that goes into it. While I still perform regularly, teaching is what I love doing.

I have a bachelors degree in music education and am certified to teach music in the state of Wisconsin. I have also been giving voice lessons for about 4 years now and teach voice full time. Additionally, I'm a regular performer of all of the styles I teach in the Greater Milwaukee Area including rock, pop, classical, and musical theater.

About the lesson

I've worked with musicians in the process of creating their first or second album and I've worked teaching tone deaf people how to distinguish pitch. I've worked with students as young as 3 years old to learn how to keep a beat and the difference between high and low pitches and I've worked with students in retirement wanting to join a community choir and needing some help with keeping a tune. In other words, I've worked with a variety of skill levels and a variety of ages.

Take one lesson with a teacher to see if their teaching style fits you. Not every teacher is for every student. There are many students who get stuck with teachers who don't teach the way they learn and think it means they're a bad student or the teacher is a bad teacher. Everyone learns differently, find a teacher who teaches how you learn.

I recently helped a student of mine in second grade learn how to write her own song about her grandmothers pet dog. We spent a lesson talking about writing good lyrics and another on testing out chords and melodies. Over the course of a month we learned how to create a song with enough practice that she could probably make another simple song in an hour or less.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I always like students to tell me their exact goals. I can design a lesson series based on your goals only if you know what they are. Many of my students who quit leave because they didn't know what they wanted and so just hoped I would guess the right thing. All of my students who know where they want to be are happy with what I provide.

Details

I charge $26 for half hour lessons in person and $25 for half hour lessons online. If a family is espeacially unable to afford this, I can sometimes negotiate.
