About Gabriela

Here at Coffee Break Studies I find joy in helping those around me learn and improve on their studies. Whether it's music, literature, or even math, I am ready to help out whenever possible. This will be my first time professionally tutoring students, but I have had experience with helping friends and classmates on different assignments.

I have taken AP U.S. History, AP Literature & Comp, and have taken my first year of Music Theory. I have played violin for 8 years, have sung for 8 years, and have been playing the ukulele for a few months. I am currently learning guitar and piano.

I love helping people and I love music. I aspire to bring those two passions together and become a music therapist after getting my bachelor's in music education and master's in music therapy.

I started helping my friends and classmates with assignments and helping my sister with her assignments.

I have taken several AP classes, took a college level Music Theory course in senior year, and have received my high school diploma. I will be starting my second semester of college this on January 26th, 2020 as a Music Teacher Education major. I have taken several classes related to the foundations of music such as Aural Skills I, Keyboard I, Music & Wellness. I have also taken two education courses and will take another education course this spring.

About the lesson

I will first get to know them! Ask them their interests, favorite subjects, hobbies, etc. to help give me an idea of their personality and their learning style. I will then ask them about what subject they specifically are having issues with. If it is a broad topic, we will dissect it verbally and visually and pick out the topics that are confusing or causing the student trouble. We will then go through the subject step by step (if that is how the student learns best) and I will have the student verbalize or visually show me if they are still having trouble with a topic.

I've worked with elementary students and high school students.

Make sure that you and your teacher/tutor click!! Be able to joke around!! Also make sure to read reviews of that tutor and see that they are knowledgeable about their tutoring subject.

Recently my father bought a guitar to get back into playing guitar after 20 years of not playing. We were able to bond over our love for music and I was able to teach him the basics.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what specifically is giving you trouble or is confusing you. It doesn't have to be in detail, but it is easier to help you if you at least have a broad sense or an idea of what you want help with.
