About Alexandria

I want to help students achieve their goals of learning Spanish! I want to make learning student-focused and fun! I have been studying Spanish for four years, and I still learn something new every time. I love learning new languages and teaching languages to people. I am currently learning French and Russian as well. I also have a certification in TESOL/TEFL. I know that learning a new language can be difficult, but I know how rewarding it can be. I am very patient and will be there to help you every step of the way, and I make myself available whenever you need help.

What I enjoy about the work I do is I love helping people learn something new and something that can benefit them for the rest of their lives. I love working with people and learning about them and their interests and I apply those when teaching in order for the student to relate and learn more.

I started getting into teaching when I was a sophomore in high school. I specifically wanted to teach English as a second language. In order to feel like I was able to teach someone a new language I wanted to make sure I knew what it was like to be in their shoes so I ended up not only taking three courses in Spanish, but also teaching myself French and Russian.

I have taken Spanish for three years in high school. I am now a Junior in college and throughout my college years I have been practicing my Spanish and learning more. I am currently reading a book that teaches a ton of grammar, sentence structure, and vocabulary. Teaching wise I have taken TESOL/TEFL courses which have taught me how to teach a language to students in an effective and creative way. I took courses in teaching youth, adults, large classes, methodology, as well as telephone/online classes.

About the lesson

When I work with a new student I like to know what they want to learn. Do they want to learn vocabulary, grammar, speaking, reading, writing, or listening skills? I want the student to talk as much as possible in the language and I want to make sure they never feel embarrassed when they make a mistake. I try to be creative with lessons so I try to incorporate games, videos, and pictures.

I have not worked with anyone yet since I just got certified to teach and I did not have the confidence in myself before to teach, but throughout this past year I have gained a lot of confidence and am ready to teach.

Make sure the teacher is doing the lesson in a way that benefits you. If you are a visual learner make sure the teacher incorporates visuals in their lesson. Some teachers may not fit the style of learning you are wanting.
