About Katie

I specialize in tutoring for academic Spanish and test prep along with Spanish for travel and communication with Spanish-speaking employees.

I took Spanish 1-4 in my schooling which built a solid foundation. I then lived and worked in the Dominican Republic for over 2 years where I worked closely with a tutor on grammar and reached a fluent level. Because of this experience, I can switch between the Spanish required to ace tests and the Spanish used in everyday life by native speakers. (Yes! There are some differences!) Let me know which you need and we will go from there!

I offer specialized plans based on your goals. Please feel free to reach out; I would love to hear about your goals and see if I can be a good fit for your Spanish learning needs!

Some of my best education has come from tutors. From language arts in elementary school to chemistry in college to learning Spanish abroad for work as an adult. Tutors allowed me to ask questions until I understood. I approach questions like guests during the holidays "the more the merrier"!! During our tutoring, you will always be able to ask questions and if you don't know what you don't understand I will work with you to figure out what your questions are.

My Spanish Education includes:

-Completeing Spanish 1-4

-Personal tutoring in grammar including, subjunctive, reflexive verbs, presentation preparation, llevar vs. Traer. ser vs. estar, imperfect vs. preterate, colloquial phrases, and prepositions.

I am certified in teaching English as a second language (TESOL) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison

I have worked with all ages teaching and tutoring a variety of subjects.

About the lesson

Think through what your goals are. It's alright if you don't have three specific measurable goals but ask yourself what do you want to be different about your abilities and what do you want to achive? (for example, you want to have less of an accent or feel confident going into an exam) It's important to communicate these desires directly with your tutor and ask how they can help you achieve your goals.

I recently visited friends in Minnesota and it snowed the first day I got there! I loved catching up with close friends over delicious meals! A friend and I went to a Mexican market and discovered our new favorite Mexican food, caldo de mariscos! (Seafood soup!)
