About Giavanna

Hi! My name is Giavanna Ragon and I attend Quinnipiac University. I am fluent in the Spanish Language and have a love for the Latin Culture! I studied abroad in Argentina at the age of 15, then graduated high school over there. I now am minoring in Spanish and majoring in Cultural Studies. I have been tutoring others from ages 8-20 in this language for the past three years at college and in my hometown. I have a great passion for tutoring others in Spanish because I enjoy spreading the love of learning! I believe that it is an amazing language with so many unqiue details, that everyone should have the honor of knowing! Although I am a college student, I have accomplished so much. I arrived in Argentina with no knowledge of the Spanish language, but graduated High School fluently and on the honor roll. With this said, ever since then, I now know what it means to work for what you want and what it feels like to have accomplished your goals. I want to be the motivation for my students to do exactly that.

I started to help others learn Spanish and tutor them weekly by experiencing the teaching world myself. When I studied in Argentina, I had multiple tutors who truly helped me become fluent and cultured. They showed so much love for what they did, which is why I started. I want to share the same experience to my students, that my past tutors have shared with me.

I have been learning Spanish since I was 15, and developed such a love for the language. I studied aborad in Argentina, then graduated High School over there. I have been tutoring others from ages 8-20 since 2018. Now, I am minoring in the Spanish language and majoring in Cultural Studies.

About the lesson

After my student goes over my application, we will have a free first meeting where we discuss what the tutoring hours would look like. I believe that it is very important to feel comfortable while learning, so I make sure that my new students have the oppotunity to ask questions and emphasize concerns face to face. When the student shows that they would like to work with me, I then evaluate where they stand with the language. From there, I will provide work sheets, texts and other material for their learning experience. We will of course have time to help and assist with their homework (if any) and/or personal work.

My advice would be to pick a teacher/tutor that they feel most comfortable with. Someone who is passionate about learning and who is eager to teach, rather than someone who thinks of this as a time clock.

Yes, my standard price is $30/hr due to the personal lessons that I make myself. I use workbooks and texts that I used when I was learning Spanish. I also move along with the lesson plans with the students, rather than ahead.
