About Delilah
I am a Spanish tutor with over six years of teaching experience and a Graduate Certificate in Spanish-English Interpretation. My work focuses on using language as a tool for social justice and community advocacy. I help students learn Spanish that is meaningful, respectful, and impactful. Lessons go beyond basic conversation.
I specialize in terminology related to human rights, activism, public health campaigns, and community organizing. Students learn how to communicate clearly and sensitively in real-world situations. My teaching approach to Spanish focuses on communication through real stories and real life situations. I help students use Spanish to express who they are and what they have lived. Lessons are practical, supportive, and easy to follow. Grammar is taught in context, not in isolation.
We work on storytelling, narrating past events, and describing emotions with clarity. Students learn verb tenses, connectors, and expressive vocabulary to make their ideas flow. I guide learners in speaking about trips, memories, work experiences, and daily life. Vocabulary grows naturally through conversation and guided writing.
I work especially well with learners who move between cultures or need Spanish for travel and settling into new environments. I provide clear and consistent feedback to improve accuracy and confidence. Mistakes are treated as part of progress. Step by step, students learn to sound natural and expressive. Together, we turn personal experiences into clear and compelling Spanish stories.
