About Alex
Growing up in South Africa I trained under national head coaches; Karoly Von Toros and Rafiq Bedford for a number of years, accumulating in a national title as a member on the men's 800 Freestyle relay team. Soon after, I left South Africa to start my career in the United States collegiate swimming world as a freshman in 2009. Here I competed in the 200 & 400IM and 200 Butterfly events. As well as multiple relays, finishing my career as team MVP of my senior year. A year after graduation I took the position as Head Coach of the Stingrays Swim Team, and it has been another great journey since, the transition from athlete to coach was an educational one. It has allowed me to find my passion for the sport in a renewed way. I have thoroughly enjoyed helping to build the team over the past five years and am excited to go from strength to strength in the upcoming season. I believe that one of the keys to success in the pool and in life is a strong work ethic.

I have worked with students ranging from new in the water to national ranked age group athletes. Ages 3-80 years old. Extream knowledge of all four strokes, starts, flipturns, underwater work, training programs, learn to swim, fear of water.
