About Emily
I have been a year-round swimmer for fifteen years, and I was even ranked number one in the state of Virginia for most of my childhood! I pride myself on my technical knowledge of each stroke. Not only can I teach competitive swimmers, but I also have years of experience teaching the fundamentals of swimming to young children and adults.
I started teaching after I finished my career as a swimmer. I couldn't stand being away from the pool and this was my way of sticking around the swimming community and being able to spread my knowledge of the sport!
I was a beach and pool lifeguard for three years. I was also a swim coach and swim instructor for three years, where I taught both children and adults of all levels and ages!

If you aren't sure of what level you're at from the start, don't worry! I can give you a short test of your ability to float, jump or dive in, or just get across the pool to determine your level. From there, I will adjust my lesson to teach you from the level that you are at!
I've worked with just about anybody you can imagine, from nervous todders to bubbly elderly!
I advise you to look toward their experience. Many people can put an advertisement online to teach swim lessons, and many people know how to swim; however not many people have enough experience with swimming to know how to teach other people.
I recently faced a difficult situation in a swim lesson. A two-year-old little boy was just so nervous to get in the shallow end of the pool. I strapped on a life jacket, created a game out of the situation, and ended up getting him in the deep end within thirty minutes!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
You may need to think about what exactly it is that you want to work on, whether it be your diving; your comfortability in the water; floating, getting across the pool, or competitive swimming.

My pricing is based off of the number of swimmer and the time that I will be teaching. Typically, one-on-one lessons will cost $30/hour.
