Hi, I’m Maria. I am a violinist that has been taking lessons with Mr. Lockard for about 8 years now. I have placed in the top ten at District 1 PMEA honors and PMEA district orchestra, while also being first chair in my high school orchestra and honors orchestra. When I first came to him I was a beginner with limited skills and a desire to learn. As time went on, Mr. Lockard developed me into a fine musician. He taught me new techniques and ways to think about music that I had never thought about before. He is a very active teacher. He always has an instrument in hand, ready to accompany you, play a duet, or show an example. Along with his amazing ability to teach, he is also very good at connecting with his students. Every week I look forward to my lessons because of his quirky, funny personality. His style of teaching, paired with his great personality make him the best music teacher I have ever met. He definitely allows his students to stay passionate about playing instruments since he loves what he does, teaching. I have seen many great musicians fall out of love with music just based on one bad teacher or experience, but I assure you that if you study under Mr. Lockard that will not be the case. In fact, you will become more excited about playing every time you pick up your instrument and play music with him at your lesson. William Lockard is a talented and caring teacher. He relates well with his students and truly gets the best out of them. He is now instructing the second of my two string students and I have always felt that I've gotten more them my money's worth. You can not go wrong with using this instructor.

My daughter has had three other violin teachers and he surpasses all of them. It is easy to see that he has had lots of experience teaching teenage students. He is very patient, friendly, and motivating. From a parent's standpoint he responds quickly to texts and emails. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Mr. Lockard has been teaching my daughter the cello for seven years. He is an experienced and talented musician and teacher. He has expert knowledge of string technique and teaches patiently so the student truly grasps correct technical playing. He also is knowledgeable in teaching his students musicality and expression. The student learns to truly make music, not just to play the right notes. My daughter has performed in a youth orchestra as well as an adult community orchestra while in her teens. She is going to minor in music at the college level.
