About Florien

I adore children, they are my life. I love teaching them new things. Children are not only a gift from God to families but they are a gift to themselves. My passion for teaching children came when I had to help my son with ADHD to become the best person that he can be. My daughter is a diabetic and very intelligent. School was boring and I needed to find interesting ways to encourage her. Yes, I am only human and I did make mistakes as a parent but I was always there for my children and other children in the community. I have taught many children to write and read. Children who could not progress in school flourished when they came to me for help.

About the lesson

My teaching skills are combined with fun and some serious learning. I believe that a child learns best when they are comfortable, happy and encouraged to use their imaginations. Learning must be fun. When we use our senses, (smell, touch, listen etc.) we remember the touch or smell of an object for the rest of our lives. The same happens when you do not only read a sentence but really understand the meaning of the sentence. My experience is that children are under so much pressure to achieve the academic goals and outcomes that are needed to pass that they forget to have fun. When last did your child play in the sand? When last did he/she write a message on a mirror to you? This is how a child learns, with feeling, listening, seeing, etc. My office is located in Centurion with a comfortable waiting area for parents.

Perfect! Florien is friendly and patient and very flexible with her time. She has made a big difference in my grade 11 son's Afrikaans marks and I can recommend her lessons. She really tailored the lesson content and expanded on the topics covered. My son felt confident in his Afrikaans exams and it was all thanks to Florien.

I had a great session with Alistair and Lindsay. Alistair needs urgent assistant with his Afrikaans subject as he does not speak Afrikaans and needs to learn the language (vocabulary). I have suggested that he takes more than 1 session a week. I also want to suggest that Alistair reads Afrikaans books, listen to Afrikaans movies and music.
