About Katrina

I’ve worked in higher education for over 20 years, supporting, teaching and mentoring university students at different stages of their studies. During that time, I’ve worked as a lecturer, programme leader and senior academic mentor, so I understand both the academic side of university and the personal challenges that can come with it.

What I’ve always enjoyed most is working directly with students and helping them when they’re struggling. I’m a good listener and my approach is warm, supportive and practical. I understand that every student is different and sometimes having someone outside of family or university to talk things through with can make a huge difference.

I have a Master’s degree in International Finance, a postgraduate qualification in Learning and Teaching and I’m a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy helping students build their confidence, find their feet and realise that they are more capable than they think.

About the lesson

University can feel overwhelming, even for very capable students. Sometimes it isn’t academic ability that’s the problem, but managing deadlines, staying organised, keeping motivated, building confidence or simply knowing where to start.

With over 20 years’ experience working in higher education, I have supported and mentored students from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them overcome challenges and get back on track.

My sessions are relaxed, supportive and completely tailored to the individual student. I can help with study skills, time management, organisation, academic confidence, assignment planning, presentations, exam preparation, motivation and managing the transition into university life.

I’m not here to judge or lecture. I listen, understand where a student is struggling and help them put practical steps in place that feel manageable. My aim is not just to help with the immediate problem, but to give students the confidence and skills to become more independent and successful throughout their studies.

Whether you’re just starting university, returning to study or currently feeling overwhelmed, I’m here to help you find your way forward.
