About Pippa
I am an international education professional and Founder and Executive Director of Discovery Hub Education, a higher education start-up bridging between the Chinese and Western academic worlds. I'm passionate about teaching and still love working 1:1 with students, which is why I'm seeking students for tutoring. I'm also a former Assistant Professor at Duke Kunshan University, a joint venture collaboration between Duke University in the US and Wuhan University in China, and a former Global Perspectives on Society Fellow at New York University Shanghai. In these roles I taught thousands of students, alongside writing numerous academic papers and one book. I'm originally from Aberdeen, Scotland, but have spent much of my career in China, and am a Mandarin speaker. I have a PhD from Fudan University (one of China's top universities), a Masters degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a BA (Hons) degree from Durham University. Outside of work, I love running, boxing, and walking my rescue dog Huxley :)

My lessons are: - Engaging and interactive: I use a variety of techniques such as debate, role play, games, and simulations to bring topics to life and make learning enjoyable. - Honest and constructive: I will give you clear, constructive, and honest feedback to help you improve and succeed academically. - Professional and well-organised: With extensive teaching experience, I know how to design a lesson plan that makes optimal use of your learning time. Who should take my lessons? - Secondary school students who aim to score highly in their GCSEs / A levels / Scottish Highers in Politics, International Relations, History, Economics, or related fields. I can also work with students on all aspects of their university applications. - University students who want to improve their academic performance in Politics, International Relations, History, Political Economy, or related fields. How my lessons work: - Online, typically 60 minutes, but can be shorter or longer depending on student need. - No specialised equipment needed, just a laptop/tablet and internet connection. - I can work with your assigned learning/reading materials or design bespoke lessons for you.
