About Caleb

I’m Caleb Opeloyemi, a qualified Yoruba Language Teacher and the founder of The Teacher Writer.

I hold a B.A. in Yoruba and an NCE in Christian Religious Studies/Yoruba. I have several years of classroom teaching experience and have taught Yoruba to students at different levels.

Beyond classroom teaching, I enjoy helping people develop their ability to understand, speak, read and write Yoruba.

I am patient, friendly and committed to making Yoruba easy to learn and enjoyable to use.

Whether you are learning Yoruba for yourself, your family, your children or to reconnect with your Nigerian heritage, I would be glad to guide you.

About the lesson

Want to speak Yoruba confidently without feeling lost or overwhelmed?

My Yoruba lessons are practical, simple and focused on real communication. You will learn useful everyday expressions, conversations, pronunciation, reading and writing, while also understanding the cultural meaning behind the language.

Whether you are a complete beginner, reconnecting with Yoruba as a Nigerian living abroad, or learning Yoruba for family, travel or personal interest, I will guide you step by step.

I teach both children and adults, and I adapt my lessons to your level and learning goals.

You don't need to know Yoruba before you start. We will begin from where you are and build your confidence gradually.

My goal is simple: to help you move from “I want to learn Yoruba” to actually understanding and speaking Yoruba with confidence.

The lessons are personalised to your level, goals and learning pace. Whether you are starting from zero or already understand some Yoruba and want to improve your speaking, we will focus on practical language you can use in real-life situations.
