About Martha
I have been teaching for over a decade and love my subject. My goal is for students to leave each session with a clearer understanding of the science, greater confidence in applying their knowledge, and practical strategies for gaining more marks in their exams.

I am a qualified Science teacher and Head of Science, with extensive experience teaching GCSE Biology, GCSE Science and A Level Biology in both UK schools and British international schools overseas.
I have taught across a range of exam boards, giving me a detailed understanding of different specifications, assessment styles and mark schemes.
Exam board experience:
GCSE: AQA and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE
A Level: AQA, OCR and Edexcel (Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology / SNAB)
Alongside teaching, I lead a Science department, giving me extensive experience of curriculum planning, assessment and supporting students to achieve their potential in examinations.
My tutoring sessions are structured, focused and tailored to each student’s individual needs. Every session begins by assessing prior knowledge through targeted multiple-choice questions. This allows me to quickly identify gaps or misconceptions and adapt the lesson to what the student actually needs.
We then focus on developing key concepts, with teaching informed directly by the relevant exam specification and mark scheme. A key part of my approach is helping students understand not just what they need to know, but how to apply their knowledge in an exam and gain marks.
We regularly work through exam-style questions, followed by detailed feedback so students understand how to improve their answers, address misconceptions and avoid common mistakes.
My sessions typically involve:
Targeted retrieval and multiple-choice questions to assess prior knowledge
Identifying and addressing gaps or misconceptions
Clear teaching of challenging Science and Biology concepts
Teaching closely aligned with the relevant exam specification
Developing understanding of what examiners are looking for
Regular exam-question practice
Detailed, constructive feedback and opportunities to improve answers
Developing exam technique, confidence and independent learning skills
I offer support with GCSE Combined Science, GCSE Triple Science, GCSE Biology and A Level Biology, including students studying British curricula internationally.
