About Justina

I’m Justina, a Medicinal Chemistry student at the University of Leicester, currently achieving a high 2:1. Chemistry has been a huge part of my life since school, and I know exactly what it takes to go from struggling with a subject to genuinely enjoying it.

At GCSE I turned my predicted grade completely around in the space of a month, walking away with an A/A* in Combined Science Higher Tier. At A Level I missed an A in Chemistry by a single mark, so I understand better than most how much the small details matter and how close success and disappointment can sit next to each other. That experience shapes how I teach today, with a real focus on precision, exam technique and not leaving marks on the table.

Outside of academic work, I’ve spent time in customer facing roles where I regularly trained and supported new starters, which taught me how to explain things clearly, adapt to different people and stay patient no matter how many times something needs repeating. I’m friendly, approachable and genuinely invested in seeing my students improve, not just get through a lesson.

I believe every student can succeed in Chemistry with the right guidance, enough practice and someone who’s patient enough to explain things as many times as it takes. That’s exactly what I aim to offer.

About the lesson

Over the years as a student myself, I’ve built up a wide range of resources that go beyond generic textbook questions. I choose practice materials that target the specific concepts students find hardest, because I firmly believe practice really is what makes the difference between knowing a topic and mastering it.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, not a one size fits all script. I guide students through each question step by step, then set practice questions for them to work through independently. When mistakes happen, I don’t just correct them. I explain exactly where the thinking went wrong, make sure it’s understood, and then push them further with harder questions to build real confidence, not just surface level familiarity.

I’m also happy to help with school homework, working through anything a student is stuck on and explaining concepts they haven’t fully grasped in class. My lessons are a mix of interactive teaching and independent practice. I’ll work through material with the student, then step back and let them apply it themselves while I supervise and check their understanding.

I’m friendly, patient, and understand that everyone learns at their own pace. Some students pick things up quickly, others need more time, and that’s completely normal. My goal is simple: to get every student to the highest grade they’re capable of achieving.

I know this approach works because I’ve lived it. I turned my own predicted grade completely around in the space of a month before my exams, using targeted revision techniques to absorb as much information as possible in a short space of time, and went on to achieve an A/A* in Combined Science at Higher Tier and B in chemistry A level
