I am a qualified engineer with over 15 years of professional experience and a strong background in mathematics, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. I offer reliable, patient, and personalized math tutoring in a supportive environment, helping students understand difficult concepts, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

I provide friendly, patient, and personalised maths tutoring designed to help students understand concepts clearly and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.

**My teaching approach:**
I first identify the student’s current level, strengths, and areas where they need support. I then adapt each lesson to their individual learning style and school curriculum. I focus on explaining concepts step-by-step, using simple examples, visual methods, worked solutions, and plenty of practice. I encourage students to ask questions and understand *why* a method works rather than simply memorising formulas.

**Lesson structure:**
A typical lesson is **60 minutes**, with flexibility depending on the student’s age and learning needs. Lessons generally include reviewing previous work, introducing or explaining new concepts, guided practice, independent problem-solving, and a short review at the end.

**Experience and qualifications:**
I have a **BSc (Hons) in Earth Resources Engineering from the University of Moratuwa** and more than **12 years of professional engineering experience**, where mathematics, problem-solving, calculations, and analytical thinking have been an important part of my work. I bring this practical mathematical experience into my tutoring and aim to make maths easier to understand and apply.

**Who I teach:**
I offer tuition for **primary and secondary school students**, supporting students with school mathematics, homework, exam preparation, problem-solving, and strengthening fundamental mathematical skills. I can tailor lessons to the student’s year level and individual learning needs.

My goal is not only to help students improve their marks, but also to help them become more confident, independent, and comfortable with maths.
