About Paul

I am Paul McBretney DipABRSM FISM, a professional piano educator and a Fellow of the Independent Society of Musicians. I run Wymondham Piano Tuition, bringing over 40 years of dedicated teaching experience to my students.
Over the past four decades, I have established a reputation for absolute excellence in classical and modern pedagogy. I hold an exceptionally high exam pass rate with the ABRSM, with the vast majority of my students securing Merits and Distinctions. Most notably, my teaching standards were highlighted when one of my advanced Grade 7 pupils achieved the highest overall exam mark in the entire United Kingdom.
I hold a full, clean Enhanced DBS disclosure certificate, providing total peace of mind for parents. Whether your goal is to pass high-level board exams with top marks or simply to learn to play your favourite pieces for your own pleasure, I look forward to welcoming you into my online studio!

About the lesson

Online music lessons should never feel like a compromise. I teach from a dedicated, modern digital studio equipped with multi-camera views so you can see my hands clearly, studio-quality external microphones for accurate acoustic audio, and interactive digital sheet music shared live on-screen.

I specialise in ABRSM Exam Preparation (from Grade 1 right up to Grade 8). My approach balances technical precision with engaging, modern training. Lessons are enhanced by interactive iPad technology, specialised learning apps, and professional play-along backing tracks. This completely gamifies the learning process, keeping home practice fun and stress-free for younger learners!

I warmly welcome students of all backgrounds:
• Children (from age 6) & Adult Beginners taking their first steps.
• Advanced Pupils looking for competitive, elite-level coaching.
• GCSE and A-Level Music students needing academic performance coaching.
• Pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), taught with immense patience and care.

Flexible Lesson Formatting & Pricing Structure:
• Beginners to ABRSM pre-Grade 1: £40 per hour (Pro-rata: £20 for 30 mins )
• ABRSM Grades 1 to 8: £48 per hour (You can choose 30 mins/40 mins/ 50 mins or 60 mins depending on Grade)
