About Ivy
I am a piano tutor with 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano. I have guided over 300 students from young children to adult learners returning to the instrument after years away. My teaching spans classical technique, jazz harmony, pop styles, music theory, and examination preparation comprehensively. I specialise in building expressive technique, fluent sight-reading, and genuine musical understanding alongside technical skill. I am passionate about making lessons joyful and personally meaningful for every student I work with. My approach is patient, thorough, and always adapted to the individual student's learning pace and goals. I have helped students achieve excellent examination results and perform confidently in public recitals. Let me help you develop a genuine and lasting love of the piano.

My piano lessons follow a clear progressive structure building skills, understanding, and musical confidence together in every session. Every session opens with scales and finger exercises to develop coordination and technical consistency from the very outset. I teach music theory alongside pieces from the very first lesson so students understand their music deeply rather than just copying notes on a page. Younger students benefit from musical games, visual aids, and exciting short pieces that maintain genuine enthusiasm throughout. Adult learners work on songs they genuinely love while building solid foundational technique and theory alongside. Exam students receive systematic preparation with regular mock assessments across all required areas and components. I use backing tracks consistently to develop timing and musical feel throughout every lesson. Improvisation and composition are offered to students wanting to develop creative piano development alongside their formal studies. Clear written practice plans are provided after every lesson for focused and productive home practice. My goal is to give every student the skills and genuine love of music that lasts a lifetime.
