About Peter

I went from a B student to achieving a near-perfect mark in VCE English. I wasn't a talent - I worked hard, and figured out the best ways to improve in a subject that isn't straightforward. This is why I choose to tutor English. With the right direction, any student can succeed. The best part of tutoring is understanding my student and then providing them with the tools to feel empowered and successful. Throughout 2025, my 5 VCE students all improved by at least a grade level on their SACs. "Thank you so much for helping Ro out this year. About the lesson

I take pride in getting to fully understand my student and am invigorated in trying to find ways to maximally complement their strengths and skill set. While this is a process, a tutor should be someone who supports you entirely. I like to provide all my contact information and be available at all times (yes, 24/7) as I enjoy the privilege of empowering my students. I also mark all of my students' work, free of charge, outside of lesson time. Each lesson, we will discuss a specific, tailored skill or passage. This will either be skills-based or knowledge-based, both requiring very different approaches. The second part of the lesson will be applying the new technique or understanding, through novel exercises and activities. These take various engaging forms - English can be fun! Hopefully, the student will be confident enough to bring something to work on each lesson or have assessments for which to plan or marking received. As such, I reserve some time at the end of the lesson for review. I like to write up a summary of the things covered during the lesson and curate a plan for the following week, so as to have a tangible record of the session and concrete steps to follow for improvement. I understand how it feels when my students say they don't know how to study for English! As such, I ensure that the exercises are numbered by priority and described in great detail. I encourage the students to clarify anything and everything they feel unsure about with me outside of lesson times too. Years 8-12. Any text - (I will study it in my own time)
