Joanna interviewed me by phone for my first teaching job in South Korea seven years ago. A former employee of the school I was applying for, she had been entrusted to interview prospective new teachers. Even separated by hundreds of miles, her positive energy, curiosity, and sincere interest came through. We ended up talking much longer than scheduled, touching on the areas of teaching that we loved and hobbies that inspired us. We finally ended the call, but it was the beginning of a wonderful personal and professional relationship.
