About Shirley
I have over 19 years of teaching experience and 10 years of tutoring experience. Throughout my years of teaching, I've worked with students during their foundational years.
A majority of my students begin the school year with little to no letter recognition of letters, letter sounds, shapes, colors and numbers. By the end of the school year, they leave as one of my top student(s) or in a better place. I take pride in my work as a teacher and tutor. My main goal is to see students excel.

I have learned to meet my students where they are based on their needs. For example, if I'm tutoring I might provide a lesson with a sensory, auditory or kinesthetic approach based on the child's needs. Finding a method or strategy that works best is key!
Building a strong foundation in Early Literacy is crucial and organizing yourself when it comes to studying habits. At times, having a list or a graphic organizer approach is necessary to excel. Breaking a subject down or separating learning goals into smaller components and prioritizing is very helpful in being successful. I have experience helping college, elementary, middle and high school students get organize to enhance their learning.
