About Agil
I am Agil Pirverdiyev, a FIDE Master and FIDE-certified coach from Baku, Azerbaijan. Fifteen years of teaching and more than 100 students, all of them online.
Rating 2411 classical, 2508 rapid. Under 16 World Champion in 2011, Under 14 European Champion, team silver medal at the Chess Olympiad. I also hold a FIDE arbiter title, with open tournament wins in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
Lessons are one to one and taught in English.
I know the level Indian junior players are competing at, and I do not teach them the way a beginners' academy does. If your child is already playing rated tournaments and the rating has stopped climbing, that is the situation I work with most often.

WHAT I ASK FOR FIRST
Send me two or three recent tournament or online games - a Lichess or Chess.com link works - and tell me where the results stopped improving. I go through them before the first session.
FIRST LESSON FREE, 30 MINUTES
I open those games and show what is actually holding the rating back, then give a plan: what to work on and in what order. There is no obligation afterwards, and the assessment is yours to keep.
HOW A LESSON RUNS
- One to one, online, on a shared board, using Zoom with Lichess or chess.com.
- We work from your own games, or from the previous week's task.
- At the critical moment I stop and ask what you saw. You calculate; I correct the method behind the calculation.
- Every lesson ends with one specific task for the week, and the analysis is sent in writing afterwards.
JUNIORS IN RATED TOURNAMENTS
This is most of my work. An opening repertoire that can be recalled with the clock running, rather than a database to memorise. Calculation training aimed at the actual weakness, not random puzzles. Preparation before an event, and honest analysis after it - especially of the losses, which is where the rating points are hiding.
ADULTS
If your rating has not moved in years, it is rarely a knowledge gap. It is a small set of repeating errors. We name them and remove them one at a time.
CHILDREN STARTING OUT
Board awareness, keeping pieces safe, and converting a won endgame - the three things that decide games at this stage. Parents get a short note after each lesson.
AN HONEST NOTE
There is no route to mastery in thirty hours, and I will not claim one. Before you pay for anything I will tell you what is realistic for the level, the age and the time available.
PRACTICAL
- Online, one to one, in English.
- India is only ninety minutes ahead of me, so evening slots here are comfortable on both sides.
- First lesson free, 30 minutes.
- Packages: 5 lessons, or 10 lessons with one free - you pay for nine and we play ten.
