गुरू आणि शिष्य. असच काही आमचं नातं थंडीतल्या धुक्या सारखं. धुक्यात उभ असेल तर धुक दिसत नाही पण जाणीव होती आणि लांब असेल तर अफाट पसरलेली धुक्याची चादर जी सुंदरतेनेही बहरलेली दिसते.. असच काही आमचं नातं. ज्ञानाच्या सागरात केव्हाही गरज भासली की डुबकी मारा तुम्हाला मार्ग भेटणार, आणि लांब असेल तर त्या ज्ञानाची पसरलेली चादर लक्षात येते.. असे आमचे सुमंत सर जे आम्हाला फिल्म मेकिंग च्या कोर्स ला फिल्मची स्टोरी कश्या पद्धतीने तयार केली जाते या बाबत शिकवायचे.. आम्ही ही त्यांच्या म्हणण्यानुसार स्टोरी लिहिण्याची पद्धत शिकत गेलो.आज मी ह्या फिल्म मेकिंग क्षेत्रात दिग्दर्शक म्हणून कार्य करत असलो तरी ह्या मार्गावरील काटे तुम्ही तुमच्या शिक्षण शैलीतून आधीच काढून टाकलेत.. एक आत्मविश्वास जागा केलाय. त्यामुळे मोठ्यातल्या मोठ्या संकटाला सामोरं जाण्याचं धाडस आज तुमच्या मुळे आल आहे... Sumant Abhyankar sir was one of the fewest teachers who were able to connect with students as a separate individual and not just cause it was his job as a teacher. He gave the student that space to express themselves without the fear of being judged. He was able to create a safe space where students could explore ways to reach the goal assigned to them. He is a very soft-spoken yet firm, sensitive, witty individual who doesn't try too hard to gel with the students. He is highly educated in his field and is up to date with the latest advancements in the industry. Brilliant work ethics. No doubt one of the most memorable mentors/teachers I ever had.
