About Olivia

I’m a tutor for Intro to Statistics, and I approach it like someone who understands what it’s like to be in the course and figuring things out in real time. My goal is to make stats feel less intimidating and more like something you can actually work through step by step.

I focus on breaking concepts down in a way that makes sense without overcomplicating things. Instead of rushing through formulas, I slow things down and make sure the “why” behind each step is clear. I use simple explanations, guided examples, and real-life connections so the material feels more familiar and less abstract.

My sessions are structured but relaxed. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, even the ones they think are “basic,” because that’s usually where real understanding starts. I meet students where they are and help them build confidence as we go, not just get through assignments.

I mainly support college-level Intro to Statistics students, especially those who are just starting the course or feel like they’re falling behind and need things explained in a clearer way.

At the end of the day, I’m here to help make the subject feel more manageable and less stressful so students can actually understand what they’re doing and feel good about it.

About the lesson

My teaching style focuses on clarity, repetition with purpose, and real-world application. I break down statistical concepts into simple, digestible steps before building them back up into full understanding. Instead of memorization, I prioritize helping students understand the “why” behind formulas and methods.

I often use:

- Step-by-step walkthroughs of problems

- Visual explanations to make abstract ideas more concrete

- Real-life examples (sports, finance, everyday decision-making)

- Guided practice where students work through problems with support until they can do them independently

**I adjust my explanations based on how each student learns best, whether that is visual, verbal, or hands-on problem solving.
