About Arjun

I'm a final year business management student at the University of Bath, specialising in business and data analytics. I took Maths and Further Maths up until my A-levels and was able to get A*s and As in them thanks to a lot of hard work and personal tutoring (from my older brother!)

I've been working and teaching various subjects and sports at youth summer camps for the past four years now so I have plenty of experience working with that particular age range.

In terms of the actual subject, I remember wondering how certain topics would apply to real-life scenarios and questioning whether all the hours I was putting in would be rewarded eventually. I've just completed my year abroad, working in analytics and comms at two large multinationals (for 6 months each) and I can't emphasise enough how much the fundamentals of Maths that I learned at school were needed on a daily basis.

I completely understand how hard the learning process can be, having recently gone through it myself, and so I hope I can use that knowledge to help you maximise your potential and not just get the grades that you want, but hopefully show you how much of your work is applicable in the real world along the way.

About the lesson

Patience in the process and constant improvement through doing, rather than lecturing.

My teaching philosophy is based on the most effective methods that were used to teach me when I was at school. That is hands-on learning through examples and constant feedback.

A typical lesson would start with me working through an example question, ensuring that you are up to speed throughout.

Instead of droning on with more theory, I would then turn it over to you and give you different examples to work through independently, providing help and advice along the way. At this stage, the final answers don't matter as much as the thought process. We would then only move on once you had started to feel comfortable with the topic and consistently get the correct answers to match the theory.

We would then conclude the lesson with a past paper question from a previous exam paper and work through the solution together as a final test of your understanding.
