About Allan

Hi, I'm Allan! I'm a finance major at the University of Guelph with a strong academic track record, both there and in my earlier college studies. Finance is genuinely something I enjoy, not just something I study. I love understanding how money, markets, and businesses actually work, and I follow the markets and build my own Excel models for fun, which tells you the kind of nerd you're dealing with.

Beyond the classroom, I've gained hands-on experience in corporate finance, working with real financial data, models, and Excel day to day. That means I can teach you not just how a concept works for an exam, but how it actually gets used in the real world.

What I care about most as a tutor is being the person I wish I'd had earlier on: patient, clear, and never making you feel behind for not getting something the first time. I remember exactly how overwhelming this stuff felt at the start, so I keep things relaxed, human, and jargon-light.

Outside of finance, I'm big on staying active and taking on projects that let me solve real problems. I'm also a bit of a productivity nerd, so if you want tips on staying organized through a heavy course load, I've got you covered there too.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around one goal: making finance and Excel finally make sense to you.

I don't just teach the textbook version. I'll show you not only how a concept works for an exam, but how it actually gets used in the real world, so it sticks and it matters.

Here's what working with me looks like:

We start with you. First lesson, we figure out what you actually need, whether that's an assignment, an exam, or a topic that's been bugging you all term. No wasted time on stuff you already know.

You'll understand, not just memorize. I explain the "why" behind every formula in plain language, then connect it back to the numbers, so it sticks long after the test.

Excel, learned by doing. For anything spreadsheet or modeling related, I share my screen and we build it together, step by step, so you can repeat it on your own afterward instead of just watching me do it.

No judgment, no jargon. I keep the pace comfortable and adjust to how you learn best. Ask me the "dumb" question, that's exactly what I'm here for.

I work with high school and university students who want better grades, more confidence, and skills that carry into their careers. My promise is simple: I want to get you understanding this well enough that you don't need me anymore.
