About Sophia
Young professional working in the energy industry with a First Class degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. I have 5 years of experience tutoring Maths at KS3, GCSE and A-Level at Kumon and have also privately tutored Chemistry GCSE. To date all of my students have achieved grades A/A*/8/9. Additionally, I have mentored younger students at University as a PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) leader.

My tutoring approach is centred around fostering a deep understanding of the subject matter and developing problem-solving skills. I break down complex concepts into simpler, more manageable parts. This helps build a solid foundation and ensures that students grasp the fundamental principles. My lessons are interactive and engaging, utilising a mix of visual aids, practical examples and real-world applications to make learning relevant and interesting. I believe practising exam-style questions is vital for success and ensure that my students work through a variety of problems, from basic exercises to more challenging scenarios, to build confidence and proficiency. Each lesson is designed to be 1-2 hours long, allowing time to cover key topics, address questions and review progress.
