About Lily

Hello! I have tutored on and off for five years on a range of subjects at many levels. Having gained my BA Geography degree, and soon my MPhil from Cambridge, I am looking to spend the summer helping students reach their full potential. I aim to keep lessons fun and engaging, and believe in strengthening deeper understanding over solely rote learning. In addition, having received two Oxbridge offers, narrowly missing out at undergraduate due to COVID predicted grades, I have good knowledge of how to write a strong and memorable personal statement. No matter the age or subject, I am passionate about teaching and thoroughly enjoy it, and promise to put my all into lessons.

About the lesson

For younger years, I aim to keep lessons fun and engaging, working collaboratively with students to come up with useful ways to memorise knowledge and putting it into good practice. I spent two months last summer tutoring one boy for his 11+ exams and saw his confidence and abilities grow immensely, leading to his acceptance into five top London private schools.

For older students, I work from the ground up, building a solid foundation of knowledge before delving into the specifics. For personal statements, I aim to work with what the student already has and use my knowledge of what universities are looking for to refine applications and make them stand out. I also provide dissertation tutoring, in content, writing and structure. I received 89% in my dissertation and have been put forward for a national prize.

For online tutoring, I am willing to send materials or suggest topics in advance, so that there is much to work on together during the session and being online does not prove a barrier.
