About Hannah

I was something of a late bloomer academically, and developing confidence in my own abilities took time. While many tutors taught me a great deal, it was the tutors who were my mentors who made all the difference.

It was through that mentorship and hard work that I went on to graduate with a first class degree in History. with my final-year dissertation achieving a distinction mark of 88% (within the publishable range) and winning the Henry Croucher Memorial Prize for the best American History dissertation in my cohort. This piece was later nominated for the Peter J. Parish Prize by the British Association for American Studies. I later completed a Postgraduate Diploma and MA in Law.

My aim as a tutor is not only to help students achieve top results but also to build confidence and independent thinking. I believe knowledge and experience should be passed on in the most engaging way possible and I hope to provide students with the same support that had such a positive impact on my own journey.

About the lesson

Techniques:
Student-centred teaching focused on identifying strengths and areas for improvement from the student's perspective.
Flexible and tailored approach, taking a holistic view of subject knowledge, exam technique, study skills, and self-confidence.
Emphasis on continual self-reflection and developing independent learning skills.

Suitable for:
Secondary school, sixth form, and university students.

Experience:
I have taught first-year History students at university level and worked as a peer mentor, which informs my holistic approach to teaching. I have also taught English to refugees, helping learners from a range of backgrounds build confidence and understanding.

Lesson Length:
Typically 45 minutes to 1 hour, although this is flexible depending on a student's needs.
