About Stephanie

My passion for the social sciences was born out of my A-Level studies. I was fascinated by sociological theories and the multitude of ways that the world could be studied, experienced, and understood. As a young black woman, I connected with sociology deeply and found myself naturally excelling in the subject, achieving an A at AS Level, an A* at A-Level, and a First Class with Honours BA degree in Social Sciences. My thorough understanding of sociological theories, research methods and essay-writing techniques has allowed me to maintain the best grades in this subject.

Throughout my studies, I have been committed to supporting students in engaging with this fascinating subject because I believe in its potential to transform their worldview beyond the classroom. Sociology and the Social Sciences have enriched my life and I am driven by the opportunity to share this experience with my tutees.

About the lesson

My tutoring philosophy is centered on fostering a deep understanding of sociology concepts while making the subject engaging and relatable. I believe that every student has unique strengths and learning styles, so I tailor my teaching approach to individual needs:

Customized Learning: I begin by assessing your current knowledge and areas of difficulty. This helps me create a personalized learning plan to address your specific needs and goals.

Interactive Lessons: I strive to make each lesson interactive and engaging. We will discuss real-world examples, current events, and case studies to connect theoretical concepts to practical applications.

Clear Explanations: I break down complex sociological theories and ideas into digestible parts. I use analogies and visual aids where necessary to ensure you grasp the material thoroughly.

Practice and Feedback: We will work on practice questions and essays together, focusing on exam techniques and critical thinking skills. Constructive feedback is a key part of my teaching methodology.

Resources: I provide additional resources such as reading materials, online references, and practice exams to supplement your learning.

A* in A-Level Sociology (AQA)
Five years of experience tutoring A-Level students in Sociology
