About Shang En
I am a future trainee solicitor at a Magic Circle firm in London, and have recently graduated from UCL with First Class Honours in my LLB. As an international student who applied to UK universities and secured a TC in London, I personally understand how challenging the process is, and hope to help potential candidates overcome these hurdles. During my university application cycle, I achieved a 30/42 for the LNAT (compared to the cohort average of 20/42) and received offers from UCL, King's College London and Durham University. I secured training contract offers in my penultimate year in university from both a Magic Circle and a top US firm, having converted both vacation schemes into a TC offers.
I also excelled academically in school, graduating with First Class Honors and achieving the highest mark in the cohort in Jurisprudence in Year 2 with an average score of 78, and in my Banking module in Year 3 with a score of 75.
I have 6+ years of experience tutoring and mentoring students on their university and law firm applications, in both paid and volunteering roles. My tutees and mentees have gone on to secure positions in top universities and firms, and I hope to bring this success to you as well.

Services: London law firm application support (from the written application to converting the vacation scheme into a training contract offer), LNAT coaching, university personal statement review, undergraduate tutoring
Lessons for: students in the process of applying to university or to London-based law firms, students struggling academically who need some guidance on how to approach their law degree
For once-off sessions reviewing a personal statement or application, I will spend an hour providing detailed feedback on how to improve your work. After the session, we can speak again on refining your work.
In the first (free) lesson, I will first speak with you to understand what difficulties you are facing so that I can tailor a specific curriculum to achieve your goals. In our sessions, I will teach you how to research firms, develop an application strategy, develop commercial awareness, train you for assessment centres and interviews, and advise you best on how to convert your vacation scheme into a training contract. Lesson length will depend on the content covered, but will not exceed 2 hours.
Additionally, I am also able to provide studying advice for law undergraduates, such as how to write legal essays, approach coursework and exam preparation.
