About Preethini
I am truly an avid believer of hard work. No matter what struggles a student may face I want to help them in their education journey. For them to strive for their best and overcome obstacles using their strengths and confidence to reach their full maximum potential.
A progress of a student will not be a positive linear graph, there will be some bumps and dips along the way, some bigger than others and that is ok. I really want to help students to understand why their progress may have dropped and how we can get up from possible failure and take the next steps for improvement. It is all about improving. I only just left school now, so I know very well how it feels to be a student at secondary school. The struggles that come with it and the fun and exciting learning environment that comes too. I want to give the best possible learning experience to each individual student

I use a range of tools including white boards, questions, papers, textbooks, diagrams, and videos to try my best to explain concepts. I always cater towards the student's preference. A typical lesson would last for 1 hour but I am flexible. I teach biology GCSE and A-level only.
In Year 12, I mentored a girl for GCSE Chemistry and Biology, and this helped me to further my learning, reflecting, and developing teaching skills. I helped her believe in her ability and tried to support her. I found I could be an active learner whilst being a communicative teacher.
I had to pay close attention to detail of my mentee’s progress constantly and analyse her progress in our sessions and in her monthly tests. Science was not her favourite which ultimately caused her to lose confidence in herself and drop in progress. Therefore, I helped her recognise her strengths to help her overcome her weaknesses which helped motivate her. Knowing that I could get around my struggles using different methods like drawing flow charts, I helped her do the same. I explained difficult theory using visual aids like diagrams, which would be easier to remember in the exam. My main source of encouragement when I studied Biology or Chemistry was mentoring her, because teaching also made me feel more confident. I learnt people have strengths and weaknesses, so highlighting these strengths and using them to overcome your weaknesses is true brilliance. After GCSEs she received an 8 and 7 which I am proud of, always knowing that she had the talent from the beginning.
During my gap year, I was working at Yipiyap, an in-school tutoring company, and tutored GCSE Math resit students. It was truly eye-opening to engage with students who were either simply not interested or have low confidence. At the beginning only two students would turn up to class if lucky, but at the end of 7 months, I had full attendance. I try to make lessons as compact and fun as possible. Many of my students passed their exam and continued their careers.
