I'd love to learn about the student's long-term goals, what they are passionate about, their background, and learning style. This helps me create lesson plans to allow for growth in specific subjects and advise students what else they can do to work towards their goals. The time we spend in session can be as structured or as free-flowing as the student wants it to be. I like to spend some time at the beginning of each session quickly asking the student questions about previous topics to make sure that they have a long-term understanding of the topic. I will always come prepared with additional resources they can refer to after our session. I am always available outside of session times to answer questions.
I have been a student of tutors in a variety of settings and can firmly say that it has made me a more confident and inquisitive student, and that is my goal for my students - help them work towards their dreams and become confident individuals.
