About Smit

Hi! I'm Smit, a software engineer with a Master's degree in Applied Computer Science from Dalhousie University, Canada, and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.

I've previously worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where I worked on large-scale distributed systems. I've also held software engineering roles involving backend development, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture.

My areas of expertise include Data Structures & Algorithms, System Design, Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, Object-Oriented Programming, databases, and computer science fundamentals.

What I enjoy most about software engineering is solving challenging problems, but what I find equally rewarding is helping others understand them. I believe that even the most complicated technical concepts can be made approachable with the right explanation and a little patience.

I want to share the knowledge I've gained through my education and professional experience to help students avoid common mistakes, develop strong fundamentals, and gain confidence in their abilities.

Outside of technology, I'm an avid reader who enjoys classical literature, science, and philosophy. I also love playing tennis, going to the gym, traveling, and discovering new places.

I'm naturally curious, enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, and believe learning should be an enjoyable experience. I look forward to sharing what I know and learning something from my students along the way!

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy is simple: understanding why something works is far more valuable than memorizing solutions.

I tailor every lesson to your experience level, learning pace, and goals. We start by identifying what you already know, then build your understanding through clear explanations, real-world examples, and hands-on problem-solving.

For programming and algorithms, we'll break problems down step by step, explore different approaches, and gradually optimize our solutions. For system design, I'll draw on my professional experience at Amazon Web Services (AWS) to explain real-world architecture, scalability, and engineering trade-offs.

My lessons are interactive, so you're encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and think independently. I focus on developing your problem-solving skills rather than simply giving you answers.

Whether you're a complete beginner, a university student struggling with computer science concepts, or a professional preparing for technical interviews, my goal is to help you become a confident, independent programmer.
