About Alex
I am an educator with over 10 years of experience in various settings. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina, I also obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Business Administration from the American College of Education while working as a middle and high school math teacher both in public and private schools before moving to a district administrative position as the Secondary Mathematics Coordinator for the Beaufort County School District. Serving in these various roles has helped to work with and better understand a very diverse group of students throughout the years, and I can confidently say there are very few situations and student profiles I haven’t had experience with before.

Students struggle with mathematics in today’s school climate predominantly from one thing: apathy. Students no longer enjoy learning mathematics because they can’t understand mathematics. Students I work with will first develop an understanding of HOW mathematical applications work to better recognize its uses in the real world and then focus on the rote memorization of WHAT skills students should know and be able to perform.
