About Patti
I’m a former reporter and communications professional with 5 plus years of experience teaching ESL online. I am experienced with communicating with people from all backgrounds. I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, so I strive to create a welcoming, fun, patient, and judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable practicing and making mistakes.
My professional experience has taught me how to ask the right questions, explain ideas clearly, and adapt my communication style to different audiences. I bring those skills to every lesson and tailor our sessions to your goals and interests.

My Teaching Approach
As a former news reporter and communications professional, I believe the best way to learn English is to use it in real, everyday situations. My goal is to make lessons practical, comfortable, and engaging while helping students build confidence in speaking, writing, reading, and understanding English.
I tailor each lesson to the student's goals, interests, and current level. Depending on what you need, we might practice conversation, work on pronunciation and vocabulary, read and discuss an article, or focus on writing and grammar. I encourage questions and conversation so students can learn by actually using English—not just memorizing rules.
A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson begins with a quick conversation to practice speaking and identify areas we can work on. From there, we may introduce new vocabulary or grammar, work through a reading or writing exercise, and finish with conversation practice using what we've learned.
Lessons are flexible and can be adapted to your goals, whether you're preparing for school, improving professional communication, preparing for an interview, traveling, or simply becoming more comfortable speaking English.
What Sets Me Apart
My background as a former reporter gives me a unique perspective on communication. I've spent years interviewing people, asking questions, writing for different audiences, and making complex information easy to understand. I bring those skills into every lesson and create a supportive environment where students can learn without feeling embarrassed about making mistakes.
