About Senamile

My name is Senamile Ndlovu, and I am so excited to be your teacher. I am passionate about teaching because I believe education has the power to change lives, starting with young minds like yours. I chose to become a teacher because I love helping children learn, grow, and discover their abilities in a safe and happy environment.

I am especially interested in teaching English because language helps us communicate our thoughts, feelings, and ideas. I enjoy reading stories, singing songs, and learning new words with children. Seeing learners gain confidence when they read, speak, and write makes me proud and motivates me to work even harder.

As your teacher, I promise to be patient, kind, and supportive. I want our classroom to be a place where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying your best. I look forward to learning with you, laughing together, and helping you build a strong foundation for your future.

About the lesson

As an English teacher in the Foundation Phase, my lessons focus on developing learners’ listening, speaking, reading, and early writing skills in a supportive and engaging environment. At this stage, learning is play-based, interactive, and learner-centred, ensuring that children build confidence in using English as a language of communication.

Each lesson begins with an engaging introduction such as a song, rhyme, story, or discussion to activate prior knowledge and capture learners’ attention. I use visual aids, flashcards, real objects, and pictures to support understanding, especially for learners who are still developing their vocabulary.

Reading activities include shared reading, picture reading, phonics activities, and storytelling to develop sound recognition, word building, and comprehension skills. I encourage learners to participate by repeating sounds, answering simple questions, and predicting story outcomes. Writing activities start with drawing, tracing, and forming letters, gradually progressing to writing simple words and sentences.

Oral language development is emphasised through conversations, role-play, show-and-tell activities, and group discussions. These activities help learners express themselves confidently and improve pronunciation and sentence formation.

Overall, my English lessons aim to create a fun, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where learners develop a strong foundation in language skills that will support their future learning.
