About Azam
I am very passionate about education and helping others to achieve their best academic potential. As a medical student, I understand the importance of hard work and discipline when learning and studying for exams. instilling good habits into your day is as important as learning the information which is a crucial learning point from my experience.
During my time at school, in the role of a STEM ambassador, I was deeply involved with mentoring younger students during lunchtime and supporting teachers with organizing class experiments. In my second year of University, I signed up for a one-to-one mentoring scheme where I mentored a student in the year below.
Last summer I decided to take my passion and enjoyment for teaching more seriously and so I started tutoring professionally.

Lessons will be planned to suit the individual needs of each student. We all learn differently, so to reach your highest academic potential, you must figure out how you learn best. My lessons will be centered around what the student needs support with but will also focus on three key areas: retaining information, discipline regarding revision, and finally building confidence when answering exam questions.
I will spend time in my first lesson to figure out the student's current level of understanding about the topic and how they are used to learning. I will introduce techniques including active recall and spaced repetition which are proven to make a difference in exam results. These techniques help to retain information which is a key skill to achieve when learning different subjects.
I place a strong emphasis on past paper questions as well as the course specification which details the key topics to learn for the exam. This will be regularly reviewed during the lessons. Remembering the answers to topics covered previously in the year is important and so I also ask my students questions on topics covered earlier to see if they are actively keeping up with their learning material.
The lessons will be one hour long, but students can request two joint lessons.
I achieved six As at Higher level in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, and Modern Studies
I achieved three As at Advanced higher level in Maths, Biology and Chemistry
I have over 130 hours of tutoring experience having taught 5 different students a mix of National 5 Biology and Chemistry as well as Higher Biology.
My lessons are for Scottish students who need support with Biology and chemistry if taking the National 5 or Higher exam.
