About Pratyush
I am currently a French and Spanish student at Oxford University. I chose to undertake a languages degree because of the wide range of skills and cultural insights that learning modern foreign languages can foster. A skill which my degree vitally develops is communication, which is relevant in all areas of life, and I think this is really instrumental for my capability to tutor. My approach centres on building a foundation of understanding, through equal involvement of both myself and my students, which allows them to grasp key concepts and themes, to ultimately augment their wider knowledge. Although I specialise in languages, I achieved my IB diploma with the maximum 45 points and received 9s in all of my GCSEs; hence, I would be very happy to assist in a wide range of subjects.

With regards to the content and structure of my lessons, a flexible and personal approach prevails. I usually prepare for my lessons using a range of materials, so that there are a variety of exercises to tackle throughout the session. This helps students to remain engaged, as well as foster understanding through their active involvement. Before tackling new topics, I generally cover a recap and assess the student's ability, to verify whether it is suitable to move on or whether a bit more time might be needed to consolidate that specific area. My methods are not prescriptive but constructive, and I frequently collaborate with my student in designing their next lesson: to see what they enjoyed, what they find useful and what they find less effective for them. This has thus far proven very successful.
