About Ewan
I am a French/Spanish graduate of the University of Stirling. I believe that language learning can and should be much more engaging than it is here in the UK/Ireland.
I am highly passionate about language learning and teaching, having studied French and Spanish since secondary school. I worked as an English language assistant in rural Québec for a year, teaching French speaking children at a primary school level. Further to this, I worked in an adult learning centre in Montreal for two years, where I taught English to learners from all over the world.
Part of my role in the adult language centre involved one-on-one intervention with struggling students, where I would go over the content of the course at a much slower pace than what could be afforded in a class of 20 - 35 students.
I also spent several months living in Santiago de Compostela, in the north of Spain, to improve my Spanish as part of my semester abroad.

My approach to tutoring involves finding out what points a student struggles with the most, and focusing on that particular weakness.
I like to keep things as engaging as possible. While going over past paper questions can be beneficial, I believe that language learning is far more important than simply passing an exam. As such, I use a combination of my own materials and resources designed for early native French/Spanish speakers to challenge the learner and help them to grow.
If the learner either struggles too much with the materials used, or finds them to be too easy, I am happy to adapt them to be better suited to their level.
