About Maggie
Hi! I'm an undergraduate at the University of Leeds studying Global Development, and I studied English Language at both GCSE and A-Level alongside Politics and Psychology.
Having studied English Language through to A-Level, I understand that the subject can sometimes feel difficult to approach, particularly when it comes to analysing texts, structuring answers and knowing exactly what an exam question is asking for.
I had a tutor myself during my A-Levels and found how helpful it was to have someone explain things in a different way. This is one of the reasons I wanted to start tutoring and help other students develop their confidence.
I particularly enjoy helping students who feel unsure of themselves academically. I want my lessons to be a relaxed and supportive space where students can ask questions without feeling embarrassed, while gradually building the skills and confidence they need to work more independently.

My lessons are designed to help GCSE students feel more confident and capable in English Language. Whether you're struggling with a particular area, preparing for exams or simply want to improve your exam technique, I'll tailor each lesson to your individual needs and goals.
We can work on a range of skills, including analysing language and structural choices, exploring their effects, developing strong written responses and improving creative writing. I can also help with understanding questions, planning answers, managing your time in exams and practising exam-style questions.
Lessons will be friendly, supportive and interactive, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and work through areas you're unsure about. My aim is to help you build both your English skills and your confidence when approaching exams.
