About Luke

Nervous about speaking English? You don't need perfect English to start having real conversations.

Hi! I'm Luke, and I'm here to make learning English feel a little less like studying and a little more like having a conversation with a friend.

I know how frustrating it can be when you understand English but struggle to find the words when you need to speak. I'm learning Japanese myself, so I know that feeling of having something you want to say but not quite knowing how to say it!

That's why I'm patient, relaxed and happy to work at your pace. You don't need to worry about making mistakes in my lessons — mistakes are a normal and important part of learning.

I particularly enjoy helping adult beginners and learners who want to become more confident speaking English.

Whether you're learning English for everyday life, travelling, work, meeting new people, or simply because you want to improve, I'll take the time to understand what you want to achieve and tailor my lessons around you.

Outside of teaching, I love travelling, exploring new places, learning about different cultures and finding a good coffee!

Most importantly, I want you to finish each lesson feeling more confident than when you started — and hopefully having enjoyed yourself along the way.

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, friendly and practical, with a focus on helping you actually use English rather than simply memorising rules.

Every student is different, so I'll tailor the lesson to your level, goals and interests. Depending on what you want to improve, we can work on:

- Speaking and conversation — build confidence having real conversations in English
- Pronunciation — improve clarity and feel more comfortable speaking
- Vocabulary — learn useful words and phrases you can actually use
- Everyday English — practise situations you'll encounter in real life
- Reading — improve your understanding of written English
- English for travel — prepare for conversations and situations abroad
- English for work — practise useful workplace vocabulary and communication

Lessons can also be built around topics that interest you. We might talk about travel, food, films, hobbies, culture, work or everyday life — whatever helps you practise English in a way that feels relevant and enjoyable.

I won't expect you to speak perfectly. Making mistakes is part of learning, and I'll help you correct them in a supportive way without interrupting the flow of the conversation.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, and we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My aim is simple: you should finish every lesson feeling that you've genuinely improved and are a little more confident speaking English than you were before.
