About Aaron

I studied Biology at university, but as a lifelong lover of literature, theatre and learning learning languages, I pursued additional training in tutoring English Literature and English Language.

I am a natural teacher and enjoy and excel at helping others to learn and enjoy learning. I'm enthusiastic, encouraging, easygoing, and enjoy making lessons fun and interactive - enjoyable lessons are also the most efficient and productive!

In addition to my tutoring and school teaching work, I have worked as a marine ecologist and educator in Mexico, and as a Smithsonian Fellow in Behavioural Ecology in Panama. Both positions were thrilling experiences that offered a unique array of learning and teaching experiences (lectures, workshops, courses) that I continue to draw upon in my tutoring.

About the lesson

Teaching approach - Every student's learning style, needs, and goals are unique, and with each student I explore these right off to create a tailored learning plan that fits them. As an experienced and adaptable teacher, I am confident I would be a great fit to help you improve not just your skills and understanding, but also your belief, confidence and ability to continue teaching yourself beyond our lessons.

Experience - I have a year of formal tutoring experience working with students aged 8 to 18, from KS2 / Primary 4 through to GCSE / National 4/5, and A Level / Advanced Higher. I have completed over 350 lessons off-platform.
I also have accrued one year of volunteering as a teaching assistant, and one year as a reading tutor. I have additional led lectures on marine, behavioural, and tropical ecology throughout my years working in Biology.
Additionally, I have considerable experience working with students with autism and students with ADHD, and have training in tutoring techniques conducive to SEND students.

First lesson - In our first lesson, we can get to know each other's learning, teaching and communicating styles, and discuss your learning goals.

Length and Platform - I offer 1 hour online lessons via Google Meets, which has a lesson space with an versatile set of learning tools

Lessons involve - My lessons frequently utilise a variety of resources: self-made exercises, past papers, videos, discussions, guiding images, and plenty of opportunity to write and interact.
