About Joshua

Hi! I'm Josh, a 25-year-old student currently located in California. My journey with language learning began with a simple desire: I wanted to learn Spanish so I could communicate with and support non-English speakers living in my community here in the US. Now my goal is to expand upon that initial mission and work to help support non-English speakers all over the world!

To build my Spanish fluency, I immersed myself in language exchange communities using platforms such as Discord, chatting daily with native speakers from around the world. Along the way, I naturally spent hours helping native Spanish speakers with their English—explaining idioms, refining pronunciation, and clarifying tricky grammar. After hearing consistent feedback that I was patient, encouraging, and had a real talent for explaining concepts clearly, I realized how much I loved the process and decided to turn that passion into professional tutoring.

Outside of language exchanges, I love traveling, exploring new cultures, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. I’ve visited Argentina and Peru numerous times, which deepened both my cultural appreciation and my ear for regional expressions.

Having navigated the journey to bilingualism myself, I know firsthand the vulnerability and hesitation that come with speaking a new language. My goal as your tutor is to provide that same supportive, friendly environment where you feel confident taking risks, speaking naturally, and enjoying every step of the journey.

About the lesson

My goal is to create a relaxed, engaging environment where you can build natural English fluency without fear of making mistakes. Because I am a native English speaker with certified advanced Spanish proficiency, I understand firsthand the structural challenges and false cognates that language learners encounter.

I use an immersive, communicative approach focused on active speaking. Rather than drilling dry grammar tables or interrupting every sentence, lessons prioritize natural dialogue, pronunciation, and practical phrasing. Major errors that impact clarity are corrected constructively, while helpful vocabulary and idiomatic alternatives are shared throughout each session.

Typical Lesson Structure:
Warm-up (5–10 mins) - Casual icebreaker to get into the flow of English.

Topic Deep-Dive (30–35 mins) - Interactive discussion centered on your chosen theme—whether that is professional business communication, current events, culture, or daily life.

Review & Takeaways (10–15 mins) - Key vocabulary recap, pronunciation adjustments, and actionable feedback you can practice right away.

Sessions are tailored for adult learners and professionals of all levels (A2 to C1/C2). Native Spanish speakers will feel especially comfortable with my teaching style, as I can explain complex topics to them in Spanish if needed. But if you're not a Native Spanish speaker, don't worry. Anyone seeking a patient, bilingual tutor to help them transition into confident, fluent English will find a welcoming, supportive space to practice and reach their goals.
