About Luke

I am a languages and chess enthusiast who recently graduated with a degree in Modern Languages. I started playing chess competitively in Year 7 and soon fell in love with the game. At school and university, I enjoyed coaching aspiring chess players and would be delighted to help you improve your game.

About the lesson

We can schedule a lesson for 30 or 60 minutes depending on your needs.

For beginners I focus on a solid foundation in opening, middlegame and endgame principles, and equipping you with a sharp tactical arsenal.

For intermediate players, we can explore more advanced concepts such as expanding your opening repertoire, understanding various pawn structures, how to build up attacks, etc.

I also strongly recommend you submit your games for me to analyse, as this is a great way to learn. It also allows me to diagnose your weaknesses, which we can shore up in future lessons.

I have over a decade of competitive chess experience, with a peak rating of 191 ECF (equivalent to 2132 on the new system). Whether you're new to the game and looking to get started, or an intermediate player wanting to level up your game, I'm the tutor for you!
