About Emily

Hi! I’m a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Cumbria, as well as TEFL and SEN experience. I’ve taught in the UK and overseas, working with children of all ages and abilities. I’m passionate about making learning fun, interactive, and confidence-building. When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me exploring the outdoors, travelling, or enjoying new adventures—and I love bringing that energy into my lessons!

Hello and welcome!

I am an experienced Primary School Teacher with a passion for helping children develop confidence, achieve their potential, and enjoy learning. I have several years of experience teaching children from Year 1 to Year 6 (Nursery to P7 in Northern Ireland) and have extensive knowledge of both the English National Curriculum and the Northern Ireland Curriculum.

My specialist areas are Phonics, English and Maths, and I am passionate about making learning fun, engaging and accessible for every child. I use a range of interactive activities, games, visual resources and practical teaching strategies to ensure lessons are enjoyable while helping children make excellent progress. Every lesson is tailored to the individual needs, strengths and learning style of each student.

I have experience supporting children with a wide range of abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). I understand the importance of patience, encouragement and adapting teaching approaches to help every child succeed and build confidence in their own abilities.

As a phonics specialist, I have successfully supported children in developing strong foundations in reading, writing and spelling. In English, I help children improve reading comprehension, grammar, writing skills and vocabulary, while in Maths I focus on building understanding, fluency and problem-solving skills through clear explanations and practical methods.

I am highly familiar with curriculum expectations, including preparation for the Phonics Screening Check, SATs and end-of-key-stage assessments. Whether your child needs support closing learning gaps, boosting confidence, preparing for assessments or extending their learning, I provide personalised lessons designed to help them achieve their goals.

My aim is to create a positive, nurturing learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and celebrating their successes. I believe that when children enjoy learning, they thrive—and I strive to make every lesson both productive and enjoyable.
