About Mily
Six years ago, I started tutoring programming almost by accident, helping a friend's younger sibling through a tricky coursework project and I quickly realised how much I loved it. Since then, I've worked with students at every stage: GCSE learners taking their first steps into computer science, A-Level students preparing for challenging exams, and university students navigating more complex, independent coursework. What hasn't changed over the years is my belief that anyone can learn to code well, given the right explanation, enough patience, and a bit of encouragement along the way. I try to remember what it felt like to be a beginner, because that perspective shapes how I teach no jargon-heavy lectures, no assuming prior knowledge you don't have. Instead, I focus on clear explanations, plenty of hands-on practice, and genuine conversation about what's actually confusing you. I've picked up a good sense over the years of where students commonly get stuck, which means I can often address problems before they snowball. I also make a point of staying current with programming languages and teaching approaches, so what I teach feels relevant rather than outdated. Learning to code can feel overwhelming, I aim to make it feel achievable instead. I tutor students across GCSE, A-Level, and university programming courses, adapting each lesson to how you actually learn best. Some students need concepts slowed right down and explained from scratch; others just need a sounding board to debug tricky code or prepare for exams. I listen first, then tailor the session accordingly. We work through real problems together writing code, spotting errors, and talking through the "why" behind each solution, not just the "how." I want you to walk away understanding the logic, not just memorising syntax. For school-level students, I keep a close eye on exam board requirements and help build solid exam technique alongside genuine understanding. For university students, I'm happy to dive into more advanced or niche topics, coursework support, or specific languages and frameworks you're using. Patience is central to how I teach — there's no rushing, no judgement for not knowing something yet. I want lessons to feel like a supportive space where questions are welcomed, not a source of stress. Over time, my aim is for you to become a confident, independent problem-solver who genuinely enjoys the process of coding.
